LEWISTOWN — Dennis E. McDermott, 62, of Indianapolis, Ind., formerly of Lewistown, died at 9:30 a.m. Thursday (March 1, 2001) at St. Francis Hospital Emergency Room in Beech Grove. Ind.
Born Jul: ‘18. 1938 in Canton. The son of Carl and Clara (Bucher) McDermott, he married Loretta Lingenfelter on December 7, 1958 in Bryant. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Lyle McDermott of Fontana, Calif. and Eddie McDermott 'of Lewistown; two daughters, Laura McDermott of Phoenix. Ariz. and Clara Rogers of Indianapolis, Ind.; five grandchildren; and two sisters, Janis Spenny of Indianapolis, Ind. and Patricia Simmons of Peoria.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He attended the Christ United Methodist Church in Indianapolis.
He worked at 'the former Canton Works of International Harvester until its closing. He later transferred to Indianapolis, where he was currently working in the foundry. He served in the United States Air Force and also the Air National Guard during the 1960s. He was a former fireman for the Lewistown Fire Department and had also been a school bus driver for Lewistown Community High School. He was a member of the former KP Lodge in Lewistown.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown, with Max Eveland officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the memorial home. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown, with military rites conducted by Lewistown VFW Post 5001 and American Legion Post 1. A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at his church in Indianapolis.
