LEWISTOWN -- Everett N. "Funny" Hughes , 81, of 932 S. Adams died at 12:55 p.m. Monday, March 10, 1997, at OSF Saint Francis Medical center in Peoria.
Born Feb. 22, 1916, in Lewistown to Harry W. and Glenna E. Boyd Hughes , he married Rosetta M. Lillie on June 11, 1942, in Palmyra, Mo. She died Nov. 23, 1978. One brother also preceded him in death.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Franklin (Dianna) Mikulich and Mrs. Terry (Roxann) Sours, both of Lewistown, and Karen Hughes of Riverview, Fla.; one sister, Helen B. Henry of Lewistown; four grandchildren; and a friend, Doris Nelson of Lewistown, who took care of him.
A World War II Army veteran, he fought in the D-Day invasion and in the Battle of the Bulge. He was past commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5001 and American Legion Post 1. He was a partner with the former Hughes Construction Co. and was a bricklayer for more than 60 years. He was a member of Bricklayers & Allied Craftsmen Local Union 6 in Peoria.
He was a member of Lewistown United Methodist Church.
