Harry Joseph Abernathy, a grand-uncle of mine, was born 23 October 1901 in Shrum, Bollinger County, Missouri to Joseph Noah Abernathy and Marry Elizabeth Kirn.  Harry married Gladys Marie Campbell 7 September 1925 in Morley, Scott County, Missouri.  Harry was a farmer.  By 1948, he was a widower living in Whitewater, Cape Girardeau County, Missouri.  Harry died there 10 December 1984.

Gladys Marie Campbell was born 15 September 1903 to George Moore Campbell and Hattie Ann Lancaster.  She died 28 January 1941 in Farmington, St. Francois County, Missouri.

Harry and Gladys Abernathy had six children:  Raymond Winston (1926-2001); Lentice Melvin; Olline Alfreda; Loudean Olleva; Willard Ervin (1935-1948); and Hersel Eugene.
