John Morgan Died

Tyrone, Blair County, Pennsylvania

Tyrone Daily Herald, 26 Jan 1894
John Morgan Died
John Morgan, a soldier of the late war and a citizen of Tyrone for about eight years, died at his home in the fifth ward last night at 10:55.
Deceased was aged 68 years, 2 months and 20 days.  About two weeks ago he was attacked by the grip which was followed by paralysis and caused death.
He was a native of Huntingdon county and was a tanner by trade; most of his life was spent in the county of his nativity.  Since coming to Tyrone he worked a short time at the paper mill, but owing to a hurt received in a retreat during his service in the war, he was almost incapacitated for labor of any kind the few last years of his life.
His wife, who survives him, has been totally blind for the past twenty-five years, the result of hard work and exposure.  Eight children also survive the deceased:  Geo W. of Lewistown; Sarah, wife of S. B. Hayes of Tyrone; Allison of Lewistown, Pa; William M. of Altoona; Mary Winters of Elizabeth Furnace; Robert of Chicago; Clara Winters of Philipsburg, Pa. and Luther of Tyrone.
Deceased was an active member of the M.E. Church and a consistent Christian.  The funeral will occur at 10:30 Sunday morning; services conducted by Rev. R. H. Gilbert at the First M.E. church; interment at cemetery.
