The first translation into early modern english, on October 4, 1537, printing of the 1st English language Bible occurred, under the guidance of William Tyndale and Miles Coverdale. Many of the subsequent translations of the Bible drew influence from Tyndale and his work, following his close translation of the Greek version of the New Testament. Unfortunately, Tyndale was accused of heresy, and was burned at the stake in 1536, as were many religious revolutionaries were during this time period. He is revered as the most important of the English language translators.
