UN Charter formally signed by United States in landmark event.

  • San Francisco, California

As part of the maintenance of post-WWII peace efforts, on August 8, 1945, the U.S. signed the United Nations Charter.  The treaty formed the establishment of the United Nations, with stipulations of UN compliance over international treaties.  The overall goal of the UN was to protect the security and peace of global nations, with necessary response to global aggression.  The agreement was put into force in October, 1945, just months after the conclusion of World War Two.
