John Paul Seacrist, Born in Ameagle, W.Va., the son of the late John Roy and Alice Marie Seacrist. John served in the United States Army for 26 years and retired as a master sergeant.

He spent most of his stateside duty at Fort Bragg, N.C., residing in Fayetteville, N.C. He served in both the Asian and European theaters and served in Vietnam for two tours.

He was awarded the Bronze Star, Vietnam Campaign, Vietnam Service, Army Commendation and Good Conduct medals and was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division Association in Fayetteville. He was also a member of the Sudan Temple Shrine.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Seacrist; his two sons, Don and Bill; his daughter-in-law, Connie; his three granddaughters, Nichole and Marie Seacrist and Robin Arrocho; his sister-in-law, Geraldine Hall; niece, Lynn Hodges; and nephew, Jimmy Hall. He was preceded in death by his grandson, John Paul Seacrist II.

Services will be held at the graveside Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake, N.C., with Neil Richard officiating. A viewing will be held Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville from 2 to 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society would be preferred, 11 S. Boylan Ave., Raleigh, NC 27603.
