President Harry S. Truman relieves General Douglas MacArthur of overall command in Korea.

MacArthur relieved of command in Korea.

In an amazing turn of events, on Apr. 11, 1951, General Douglas MacArthur was relieved of overall command in Korea.  The move, accomplished by President Harry Truman, was a result of constant disregard for his superiors, and when he criticized American foreign policy, Truman felt the need to take immediate action.
