On Feb. 25, 1901, the world's first billion dollar corporation, the U.S. Steel Corporation, was incorporated. Founded by J.P. Morgan and Elbert H. Gary, the corporation combined the steel operations of Andrew Carnegie and Gary's Federal Steel Company, with an estimated value of $492 Million, an absolutely enourmous sum for the time.
