In a remarkable feat of technology, on Jan. 18, 1903, President Theodore Roosevelt sent a radio message to King Edward VII of England.  Such an event, which was the first transatlantic message sent between foreign dignitaries, established U.S. technological advancement, and cemented more personal relations with foreign dignitaries.
