MYRON PARDEE, LAKEWOOD DOCTOR
Dr. Myron L. "Mike" Pardee was fondly called "St. Myron" by his family because of the outpouring of gratitude and affection he received from his former patients, associates and friends.

Dr. Pardee began his private practice in Lakewood in 1949 and retired in 1985.

He had hospital affiliations with Berea, Deaconess, Fairview, Lutheran, St. Alexis, St. John and Lakewood hospitals. At Lakewood, he served as chief of orthopedics and was president of the medical staff.

He was on the Board of Directors of the Cleveland Academy of Medicine and in 1968 was a founding partner of the Orthopedic Association of Lakewood.

He served five years on the Lakewood Board of Education.

Dr. Pardee, 81, died Friday at his Lakewoood home.

Cancer forced him to retire in 1985, and he divided his time between his family and their vacation home at Lake Chautauqua, N.Y.

An only child, he was born in Hampden, N.D., and reared in Chautauqua County, N.Y., beginning his lifelong love of the area.

He received his undergraduate degree in 1937 from Mount Union College and graduated from the University of Rochester School of Medicine in 1941.

After completing an internship at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Dr. Pardee was inducted into the Army Medical Corps in 1942.

He served in the Pacific and in 1946 was discharged with the rank of major.

He served his orthopedic surgical residencies at University Hospitals and Crile Veterans Administration Hospital.

At University, he met and married his wife, Jean, who was a nurse, in 1947.

He was instrumental in the establishment of the surgeon assistant program at Cuyahoga Community College.

He was active with the Society for Crippled Children, Sunbeam School, Rosemary Center, Lakewood YMCA and Lakewood PTA, and he was a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, survivors include his daughters, Barbara Phelps of Naperville, Ill., Marcie Unger of Rochester, N.Y., Becky Davis of South Burlington, Vt., Salli Breckel of Lakewood, Peggy Ashway of Cumming, Ga., and Mary of Seattle; and 11 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Lakewood United Methodist Church, 15700 Detroit Ave., Lakewood.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Living Endowment Fund of the church or the Lakewood Hospital Foundation.

Busch-Saxton-Parker-Daniels Funeral Chapel in Lakewood is handling arrangements.
