Johannes DAUB, born in Niederndorf, Germany, was the son of Johannes DAUB. Research by William Doub Bennett suggests that Johannes may have been born around 1704. Bennet’s research also suggests that Johannes moved to Littfred, Germany by 1739 when he married Maria Elisabeth JUNCK Bosch on September 6th.[1]

Maria Elisabeth was the daughter of Adolph and Anna Maria JUNCK. She was born in Crombach (Krombach) March 15, 1699 and was baptized eleven days later. Maria Elisabeth Schenken was named as Maria’s godmother.[2] When Maria Elisabeth was 20 she married Johann Frederick Bosch in Crombach (Krombach) on June 20, 1719. Maria’s father Johann Adolph had died by the time she married. Maria and Johann Frederick were married for ten years when he died of an infectious disease on June 24, 1729. Maria and her husband Johann Frederick did have children, however their names and ages are not known. Maria Elisabeth was a widow for ten years before marrying Johannes DAUB in 1739. The couple had two children, a daughter also named Maria Elisabeth born December 1, 1740 when her mother was 41 years old and a son, Johannes DAUB born March 27, 1743.[3]

The couple is listed in the old parish register for Evanelisch-Reformierte Kirchengemeinde Kromback in Germany with the baptism of their son. The register records: “Johannes Daub and Maria Elisabeth—married people—have a young son baptized—on March 31st—born on the 27th of the same (March)—godfather has become Johannes Becker of Litphen—Johannes is the name given to the child”.[4] This register is dated 1743.

Johannes lived for only eight years after he married Maria Elisabeth. He died on March 7, 1747 at the age of forty-three and Maria was widowed for a second time. Maria Elisabeth lived for 23 more years and died on January 23, 1770. She was 71 years old.[5]

After Maria Elisabeth’s death, her son Johannes (John) moved to North Carolina via Pennsylvania in the 1770’s and carried the Daub line to America.
