He was the son of John Graton, Jr. and his wife Mary, and a younger brother of Thomas Graton (1757-1842) above.

Crary married Anna Culver, daughter of Hezekiah and Ann (How) Culver on 24 Jan 1787 in Tyringham, Berkshire Co., MA. He died 12 Jan 1849, probably in Darien, Genesee Co., NY, where he resided at the time. Anna Culver, a descendant of Edward Colver "the Puritan," was born 5 Feb 1769, probably in Woodbury, Litchfield Co., CT, where she was baptized a few days later. Anna died 18 Apr 1855 in Darien, Genesee Co., NY.

Crary and Anna Graton had four known children, as follows.
(i.) Jemima Graton, b. 10 Apr 1788 in Tyringham, Berkshire Co., MA; married 4 Mar 1807, Joseph Joslin in Clinton, Oneida Co., NY; d. before 5 Nov 1860.
(ii.) Lucy Graton, b. 3 Sep 1791 in Tyringham; married a Mr. Griffin per Anna Culver Graton's surrogate court records; d. before 5 Nov 1860.
(iii.) Hezekiah Culver Graton, b. 20 Dec 1792 in Tyringham; apparently named after his maternal grandfather; m. (1) 15 Dec 1814, Abigail _, per Hezekiah's family bible, probably near Otisco, Onondaga Co., NY. Abigail d. 25 Oct 1839 in MI; Hezekiah m. (2) 3 Sep 1840 in Livonia Twp., Wayne Co., MI, Rachel Hill. Hezekiah later settled in Ingham Co., MI.
(iv.) James Graton, b. 11 Sep 1797 in Tyringham. James appears to have married at least three times. None of his wives' surnames are known, but it appears that one had the name Melinda, and another Sophia. James d. between 22 Feb 1883, when he made his will in Cattaraugus Co., NY, and 24 Dec 1885, when the will was probated.
