I was at Uncle Joes house in Phoenix when I watched men walk on the moon for the first time. Uncle Joe served on the USS Arizona before Pearl Harbor in the 1930's. The Arizona was much newer and at the pinnacle of the battleship era. Joe had 4 fine children, Daniel, Dolly, Richard, and Rita. Aunt Jean was his wife who died suddenly about a year before he did. Uncle Joe and his love for minerals and geology was the driving force that led me to become a geologist.
