GOOD TEMPLAR'S FUNERAL

The funeral of Mr. Edward M'Cualsky, joiner, Old Quay Head, an old and faithful member of the St Kirran Lodge of Good Templars, took place last Saturday at 2 p.m., and was the occasion of that Lodge's first public discharge of that solemn duty of conveying a deceased brother's remains to their last resting place. The lodge, at their meeting on Wednesday, the 15th current, understanding that it was in accordance with the widowed sister's will, agreed to attend the funeral and accordingly without further notice, no less than 50 male members met in their Hall on Saturday at half-past 1 o'clock, and having been formed in the order observed by Good Templar Lodges on such occasions, with a stripe of crepe across the left side of their regalia, marched to the residence of the deceased, and took up their place in advance of the hearse, preceding it all the way to Kilkerran Churchyard, where they opened to the rightand left allowing the hearse, mourners and others to pass through to the grave. When at the grave, Mr. John Brown, baker, the Worthy Chaplain of the Lodge, delivered the short, simple and earnest address contained in the ritual and also engaged in prayer, as directed in the funeral ceremony. The members thereafter re-formed in the same order and returned to the Hall at Head of Longrow.

Much sympathy is felt in town for Mrs. M'Cualsky in her breavement. It was only a few months ago that the business, long carried on by Mr. William Stewart, Shore Street, was transferred to her husband.
