ager to serve his country during WWI, Albert Lawrence Park, Sr., joined the Student Army Training Corps at the University of Kansas at the age of 17. Upon completing his training, he was sent to Fort Riley to begin active duty... where he fell victim to the Spanish influenza pandemic. He spent the remainder of his service fighting for his life in the hospital ward of Camp Funston.
