James Richard Thomas was my brother. He was a proud, decent southern man. He was proud to serve is county. He volunteered to fight and he never thought about running away or protesting. He was only 22 years old when he died. He barely had a life. All I have left of him is this one picture and memories of the times I spent with my older brother growing up. He died on my 16th birthday, May 10, 1969. My mother would be proud to know that her son is remembered by the Vietnam Veterans on this Memorial site.Monday, June 14, 1999

REMEMBERING A HERO !!Jimmy was my 1st cousin. We had a lot of ggod times when we were growing up. We were able to spend a lot time together in 1966, before he went off to join the Army, and I joined the Air Force. I was In-Country (Bien Hoa AB, RVN) when he got killed. In April 191, I had the honor of going to the Wall and tracing his name. I have it in a frame with pictures of the statues that I took at the Wall. People are just now beginning to thank the veterans for serving in Viet-Nam. Too bad it took this long to realize what everyone went through over there and the sacrifices that were made. To me, Jimmy will always be my HERO. May 13, 2010
