Lloyd Oliver Vevle was born on December 9, 1922 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Oliver and Elizabeth (Louise) Cleveland Vevle, who were both born in Illinois. He had two brothers, his twin Floyd and older brother Rudolph. All of them served in WWII. Floyd was also a pilot and he was KIA in January of 1945. Lloyd's mother died when he was two and his father remarried, he was then raised by his step mother Martha. His father worked as a bank teller.

He had enlisted in the Army Air Forces. Served during World War II. He had the rank of First Lieutenant. Service number was O-768760. Served with 384th Bomber Group, Heavy, 545th Bomber Squadron as a Co Pilot.

Vevle lost his life on September 28, 1944. He was KIA in Erxleben, Germany. He was on the crew of the B-17 #42-31222 "Lazy Daisy" during a mission to Magdeburg, Germany. After bombs away at the target they collided with another aircraft #43-37822 "The Lead Banana" in the formation.

The Vevle brothers were one of three sets of twins from the Fort Dodge area to serve in WWII as pilots. His twin brother Floyd M Vevle served as a pilot with the US Air Corps and was lost on January 14, 1945. He is commemorated on the Tablets of the Walls of the Missing.

Lloyd Oliver Vevle is buried at Plot C Row 37 Grave 20, Ardennes American Cemetery, Neupre, Belgium. This is an American Battle Monuments Commission location.
