Julius K. Lacey,known as Kahn(his middle name)joined the Army Air Corps in 1929. He was an engineering graduate of the University of Tennesee and was comissioned as a 2nd Lt.

He rose through the ranks and retired as a Major General in 1957.

He wrote the first study of aircraft icing as part of his MS from M.I.T (1935).

He was CO of the 103rd Provisional Combat Bomb Wing 8th AF at Molesworth 1943.

He was C.O. of the 384th BG(H) 8AF in late 1943 and halved their loss rate in less than three months.

He was C.O an later C.G. 94th Combat Bomb Wing 8th AF at Polebrook and flew a total of 16 combat missions.

He served as Chief of Staff 15th AF

He founded and commanded CREWTAF in the early 1950s.

He was C.G. UNMAC in Korea and oversaw the POW release.

He was Commendant of the AFIT.

He recieved the Bronze Star/the Silver Star with several oak leaf clusters/The Distinguished Service Medal with one oak Leaf cluster/both the Belgian and French Croix de Guerre/Knight Commander of the British Empire and the Distinguished Unit Citation among others.

He was married to Page Lacey and had two children Jay and Page.
