Recent discoveries in Civil War Service Index - Union - Vermont
AKA Adelbert S Greene, born 1846 in St. Albans, VT. Served with Company A, 17th Volunteer Regiment as a pvt and drum major 1863 - 1866. He worked as a machinist for the Central Vermont Railroad. At the time of his death in 1934 the newspaper stated that he was the last surviving member in St. Albans of the Grand Army of the Republic.
