Presented here are the compiled service records of volunteer Union soldiers belonging to the First Regiment of Alabama, Cavalry. This regiment is the only organization of Union troops from Alabama for which the National Archives has separate compiled service records, except those organizations redesignated as US Colored Troops. These records consist of a jacket-envelope for each soldier, labeled with his name, rank, and unit; and typically containing card abstracts and original papers.…More

You have a Hospital Muster Roll for A.J. McWhorter mixed in with the ones for Andrew Ferrier McWhirter. A.J. McWhorter is actually my great grandfather, Andrew Jackson McWhirter, son of Andrew Ferrier McWhirter, and the record needs to be moved to a file on its on. Andrew Ferrier McWhirter was already dead when A.J. McWhorter/McWhirter was in the hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. A descendant ...more
