Not Much Left of that Tale

Flak damage to the tail assembly of Lt. Col. John S. Samuel's Marauder bomber. The plane was hit over Normandy and returned safely to its base in England.

    This B.26 is '42-107740' .T6-U. of the (573rd B.Sq) within the 391st Bomb-Group, based at Matching-Green, in Essex, England (where this picture was taken) = 88mm shell smashed the tail on 20th May 1944; T6-U was repaired & went on to fly 96 missions
