CS military rents the land and barracks for Camp Ford, Texas, for 1863
At this point Camp Ford is a training camp for Texas troops, but by the autumn of 1863 the first prisoners of war will arrive. Camp Ford will continue to house POWs captured in the lower Trans-Mississippi until late May, 1865.
