Investigation into the killing of federal prisoners at Salisbury, NC, during breakout Nov. 1864

An interesting file of affidavits compiled in November 1865, investigating Dr. A. M. Nesbitt who was accused of killing federal prisoners during an attempted breakout at the Salisbury, NC, prison on November 25, 1864. Nesbitt appeared at the prison, drunk and with a shotgun, but the question was did he actually shoot anyone.
