Interesting letters of an Indiana Confederate from Lick Springs, Orange County, Indiana

Letters from and about W. A. Bowles, a Confederate sympathizer from French Lick, written from Indiana in 1861, and from Pontotoc County, Mississippi in 1862. This particular letter outlines how he traveled south to join the army, his participation in the Battle of Shiloh, and his high esteem of Gen. Crittenden. It seems he may have gone home by 1864. One letter seems to have code at the end.
