U.S. Flag - Transcript Journal Entry

Resolved that the flag of the thirteen united states be 13 stripes alternate red and white, that the union be 13 stars white in a blue field representing a new constellation.

    Thank you for presenting this important document. Only a few Americans realize that the War of 1812 was the FIRST war that the US fought as an independent country. Francis Scott Key saw the American flag flying over Ft. McHenry and gave it a song.

    I wouldn't try to say that the War of 1812 was the first US war to the veterans of the Miami Campaign (1785-95), the Quasi-War (1798-1800), or the Barbary Coast War (1801-1805).
