Testimony on the abuse of a German-Texan woman in Austin County, January 1864

Cadets in Capt. William M. Williamson's company threw rocks at her house, fired a volley into her house, came in and struck one of her sick sons, cursed her as a "damned Dutch bitch," threatened her absent husband, and stole her chickens. And that was not the last time they came to her house.
