Details plans to advance on the Withlacoochee and states, "If the Indians venture to fight us we shall terminate the war during this month; but should they disperse they will give us employment the greater part of the winter." In fact, the Second Seminole War (1835-1842) would drag on for another 6 years and would end with a truce rather than a treaty.
