Sallie (Neelie) Rush Was Refused

Sallie was a former slave. She and her children were denied rights as a Choctaw based on this fact. A law was quoted in the document: "[...] no freedman is entitled to identification as a Mississippi Choctaw."

    Curious.... I wonder if Sallie was able to reapply for her children? Their ages would indicate that they were not former slaves. It would seem this "freedman" law would not apply to them.
