Shot down over Yugoslavia

I knew my Uncle was shot down, but this was so interesting as to where he was flying from and the target, and what unit he was with. His name was Vernon Hunt. He said that it was the first time he ever parachuted from a plane and he was supposed to count to three before opening his chute but he panicked and opened it as soon as he left the plane and he said he almost hit the tail section as it went by. He spent several months behind enemy lines being hid from the Germans.
