Artemas Ward at Dorchester, MA
Maj. Gen. Artemas Ward refused to let the importance of Dorchester Heights be ignored, but he was overridden in July 1775. On 4-5 March 1776, the Continental Army captured the Heights. In the following days, the British evacuated Boston.
