Lt. Joseph Hodgkins to his wife Sarah

As 1775 came to a close, so did the enlistment period of many in the army. Joseph Hodgkins wrote to his wife, Sarah, "Our people are almost bewitched about getting home." (quoted in 1776 by David McCullough, page 64).
