   Have seen this picture many times and if you look closley, the engine is not "burned out" that is the shadow of the B-29 above it. You can make out more of the shadow across the fuselage.

   @guy_aceto You're probably right. The dark area looks too symmetrical.

   This is an air view of when the bomb was dropped on Osaka on June 1, 1945. My father in law was there.
