BAKER Levi S. 1857 residence (and employer?)
Baker Levi S. clerk, b[oards] 107 W. Madison. Chicago City Directory 1857, page 32. Note: this directory is poorly organized and alphabetized. The address for L. S. Baker listed below this entry is the same as in 1856. It is possible that the "Baker L. S. weighman, (R. P. Burlingame)" is the same as our Levi Baker, though this is not certain. Burlingame operated storage & commission businesses, including grain elevators, at the Illinois Central R.R. and the Galena & Chicago Union R. R.
