Bristol, R. C., Forwarding and Commission cor[ner] Lake and Market, h[ome] 5 Dearborn Place. Chicago City Directory 1851, p. 34. NB: Andreas "Hist. of Chicago," vol. 1, p. 580, credits Capt. R. C. Bristol with building the city's first steam powered grain elevator in 1848. "Old Mr. Baker" is quoted later on that page, discussing the development of elevators in the city.
