"Negroes" in rebellion, Port Gibson, MS, May 23, 1863
This letter, signed by a number of local white residents, asks Gen. Joseph Johnston for troops to reestablish control over slaves who are "in rebellion" around Port Gibson, MS, and reportedly openly drilling at Grand Gulf, MS.
