Dewitt H. TEEPLE, first commander of 9th DC police, he was a Lt-the first.

In the Fall of 1899 a new police precinct was created. It was for the protection of the fastly growing-up Northeast section of the city and was known as No 9-Lt., D. H. TEEPLE was placed in command. Washington DC. A HANDIBOE, ancestor.

    Dewitt H. TEEPLE, former UNION solider and GreatGrandfth of William R. HANDIBOE, was the commander of the very first 9th district police as a Lt. 1899. I assume that's him in ft., it matches the service description.

    This info was saved by the John DeWitt HANDIBOE, family and was named The Metropolitan Police Department, Washington DC, an illistrated history.
