Alvin York "Medal of Honor Recipient" WWI

Alvin York won the Medal of Honor in WWI. He was a conscientious objector. When asked why he took the lives that he did he replied that he did it to save lives, stating, otherwise more lives would have been lost. In other words he acted out of love!
