Lt Frank Luke, Jr , 27th Aero Squadron, 1st Pursuit Group

Some pilots became experts in balloon straffing and Lt Luke became very proficient and performed the wonderful feat of shooting down 15 balloons and 3 aircraft in 17 days. On one accasion he brought down 2 balloons and 3 aircraft within 10 minutes.
