This is my Grandfather. I know according to his uniform that he served with the 5th Air Force during WWII. During that time he was stationed in Alaska. Grandpa would rarly speak of the war, but after his passing a diary was found with the last entry stating that "We fought the Japs off the island today." I am unable to find any info about the 5th being in Alaska. Does anyone have any info?
