These men were our heroes! I am delighted to finally be able to have a photo of them!!!

On Father's Day in 1944, I had the privilege of going on a tour of what they said was a "baby" aircraft carrier like the one at the top of the row in this photo. It was the thrill of my young life, and made me the envy of the boys in my 6th grade class on the following day. I still remember looking down a ladder and seeing the men enjoying their dinner of large prime rib roasts of beef and large bowls of corn on the cob! Treats during those days. Line 28: Phylinda Mason's maiden name was Woodruff. Living with the family on Line 33 is Oscar Woodruff: age 24....a dentist. It is a very welcome find!
