Caroline Mielniczek changed her name to Caroline Miller when she lived in Chicago most of her adult life to make it easier for people to pronounce and spell. After her retirement from the telephone company in Chicago she moved back to New Lisbon, WI where she married Louis Laboda and lived until her death.commented on this image. (11 Sep 2011)

Do tell his story. My dad died when I was only seven and you and I missed so much didn't we? I am so glad there is a place where we can create a tribute to our loved ones. They deserve that.

Charles was born in the Czech Republic. His father was a farmer. He worked as a waiter at a brewery there as a young man and then went to Vienna where he was in the military and also where he learned his trade as a butcher. He came to the United States in the early 1900s and met there with his brother Frank Hladky who lived in Chicago, IL in 1905. He married Marie Winklemeyer in Chicago and ...more
