I believe this is C Taylor Gauche not Ganche. The following from his bio fits: C. Taylor Gauche was given the advantage of the schools of New Orleans and before he attained his seventeenth year he became a member of the Crescent regiment, but after a short time was discharged on account of his youth, although he had previously participated in the battles of Shiloh, Corinth and Farmington and held the rank of sergeant. An article in the New York Sun, Sunday May 5, 1904, states that Stanley lived in New Orleans at the outbreak of the Civil War and enlisted in the New Orleans Crescent Regiment and was with that regiment at Shiloh. However... I have not been able to locate any records that verify this.
