to Moonlit 51- I feel your pain. I get really depressed on the week of 23 Feb thru 28 Feb Every year. I cannot begin to tell you how much I miss my friend even after 44 years. I lost another friend who I considered my other best Friend the same day. I always refer to them as my "Forever Young Friends" and seeing Smitty's Picture here bears that out. Be Blessed.

My Name is Bob - Smitty as he liked for us to call him was my best friend in the Corps, Probably my best friend ever. I see in the second comment that you think he was killed the second day in country. This is incorrect. We arrived at Danang on 29 Jan 1969 and he was killed on 22 Feb 1969. Everyone liked him and there is so much I would like to Say but sufice it to say I miss you every day buddy.
