My husband was a loving, caring man with a marvelous sense of humor. A brilliant man he served his country as a Lt in the Army Air Corps, was a prisoner of war in Germany from September, 1944 to May, 1945, freed by Patton's Army of Liberation.

Following his military service, he attended Harvard on the.GI Bill. Following graduation he joined a newly re-organized State Department and was sent to our consulate in Marseilles, France since he had a command of the French language (initiated as a youth in Detroit by his mother, Inez Bollinger).
