    According to Rev. Alexander Donaldson's "A History of the Donaldson Family and Its Connections" a Samuel Elder married Nancy McClatchey in either Franklin or Westmoreland County, Pa. The 1790 census listed a Samuel Elder with a household comprising 2 males under 16 and 4 females. Presumably this would have been Samuel, Nancy (McClatchey) and five children.
