Hope someone else sees this. Col John Sevier, put up a white flag at Chillhowey, and old Abrams son went over to get him and his men..and Sevier came over and killed Old Abram,His son, Tassel, His son, hangingmaw and his son, then Sevier stole Old Abrams wife and daughter.. What an american hero sevier..NOT!! This man should never be honored with anything!!

This Rebecca married one of her cousins up in the Carter Co. group of Heltons. She is part of the descendants of William Helton, and his father Silas Helton. Silas, John and Daniel Helton (who went west with the Cherokees in a1828) are all brothers and the Son of Peter Hilton of Surrey and Burke Co. Peter moved eventually to McMinn county and then Carroll Co. GA. much more on the helton ...more

Silas Hilton was born in NC and died in Carter County TN. He was in the War of 1812 and his son Arnold filed for his pension in MO. He also had children by his slave Elizabeth Murphy. The descendants Cherokee applications were filed back through Nancy Jane Helton born 1815. To find more go to the Helton family Gen forum.
