My grandfather, Col. Robert Sears, went to Sicily was In the summer of 1943, as Ordnance Officer with the Engineering Amphibious Brigade, and after the successful Sicilian campaign, remained on the island as commanding officer of the Italian Base Sector until April 1944. Gen. George Patton had been his roommate at West Point. It was a thrill for me to discover this photo. -- Barbara Sears McRaecommented on this image. (06 Jun 2009)
