About LynnWaldrip46

My great grand father was Maj. Robert Aaron Dean. He enlisted in the Confederate Army at Chulahoma in Marshall County, Miss., on 5/25/61. He was elected 2nd Lt. on July 17, 1861. He was promoted to Capt. on April 16, 1863, to rank from July 15, 1862. He served on a court martial panel in October 1863. He was granted a 30 day furlough of indulgence on January 1, 1864 (the one mentioned by Lt. Peel), but overstayed it so as to be considered AWOL for some period of time. He was back with the company, however, for May & June. He was promoted major on August 8, 1864, to rank from May 12, 1864 (date of the battle of Spotsylvania). probably to take the place of a 10th Miss. field officer who had been killed or wounded or promoted in that battle.
