I found one mention of his name online, in a book called “Force for Freedom: Legacy of the 98th”. I did not have full access to the document, but the text indicated he served on a plane whose pilot was Joseph Gamble, possibly in the 345th Bomb Squadron.

His Enlisted Record and Report of Separation says he was a Staff Sergeant and Scout with the HQ Battery, 303rd Field Artillery Battalion which saw service in Europe and the Pacific... however, it also states that he was never sent overseas. Still pursuing clarification.
